By this step, you should already know alot about the ISP or ISPs you've decided to call. Now, it's time to get any information that you may still
want or need from a sales representative at the ISP. The call is really fairly simple. If you've looked over the questions on the previous step, it should
have given you an idea of what you are looking for, and things you may want to avoid. All you need now is to get those questions answered, and get an
overall impression of the company. While a attractive, corporate webiste may say something about the company and the people behind it, nothing will
show the character of the company like talking to one of their reps.
Keep the following things in mind while you are on the phone with your potential ISP:
- How many times did the phone ring?
- Did a live person answer the phone? or an autoattendant?
- Did you have to wait on hold? How long?
- Was the Sales Rep courteous and helpful?
- Did all of your questions get answered?
- Did the person you talked to know all of the answers, or did they have to check?
- Were the answers knowledgeable, or made up?
- Test the Sales Rep
- Ask the Sales Rep some questions you already know the answer to. You should have some good information from the website of that ISP. Use that
to your advantage, and you'll know if the Sales Rep knows what he or she is trying to sell.
- When the Sales Rep hangs up the phone, do they give you a pleasant goodbye, or just hang up?
- Remember: The ISP NEEDS your business. You don't have to have that ISPs services if you aren't satisfied.
